Shillong, May 7: Members of the state union of cook-cum-helpers under PM POSHAN have resolved to urge Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to release the pending honorariums owed to the Midday Meal Scheme workers for the months of February to April 2026.
The union held its executive council meeting at Mawtneng in Ri-Bhoi today. The Midday Meal workers get Rs 2,000 as honorarium per month.
The union also decided to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan to enhance the central government share for the workers. They will also urge Sangma, who holds the Finance portfolio, to take the initiative with the PM on this matter.
Regarding schools with low enrollment, the union will suggest to Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to transfer the cook-cum-helpers to schools with higher enrollment.
