Meghalaya recorded 285 recoveries from Covid-19 today, making it the single highest day for recoveries from the virus.
Eighty new infections were also reported, which brought active cases down to 1,772. There were no fatalities reported today.
Over the last four days recoveries have outpaced new infections by almost 2:1, with 432 new cases and 816 patients free of the virus.
Of the new recoveries, 242 were in East Khasi Hills (33 armed forces/paramilitaries, 209 civilians), 21 in Ri-Bhoi, 10 in West Garo Hills, three each in North Garo Hills and West Jaiñtia Hills and two each in South Garo Hills, East Jaiñtia Hills and South West Khasi Hills. There have been a total of 3,343 recoveries in the state so far.
Of the 80 new infections, East Khasi Hills reported 45 (one jawan, 44 civilians), West Garo Hills 20 (eight jawans, 12 civilians), North Garo Hills nine, Ri-Bhoi two, South West Garo Hills two, East Jaiñtia Hills one and West Jaiñtia Hills one.
East Khasi Hills now has 1,198 active cases (120 jawans, 1,078 civilians), East Jaiñtia Hills 274, Ri-Bhoi 139 (26 jawans, 113 civilians), West Garo Hills 95 (43 jawans, 52 civilians), North Garo Hills 22, South West Garo Hills 14, West Khasi Hills nine, West Jaiñtia Hills eight, East Garo Hills seven, South West Khasi Hills three and South Garo Hills three.
The number of samples sent for testing until Friday afternoon was 1,41,237, out of which 1,36,079 were negative.
Until Friday afternoon a total of 40,573 people have entered the state since coronavirus restrictions were introduced.
