Meghalaya government has permitted reopening of all tourists spots to local tourists from October 16.
Chief Secretary MS Rao, in an order on Wednesday said that the permission is subjected to compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) laid down by the tourism department and to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols laid down by the health department.
“All entities/organisations/associations that wish to re-open such places should intimate the deputy commissioners confirming adherence to the SOP,” Rao said, adding, “Deputy Commissioner should ensure strict compliance to these protocols and guidelines through periodic inspections and regulate the schedule and timing depending on the local situation and to meet the social distancing norms.”
Earlier in September, the State government decided to reopen only three prominent tourist spots-Elephant Falls, Ward’s Lake and Nehru Park-strictly for local tourists.
