Shillong, Mar 30:  A media workshop titled, “Varta on Viksit Bharat: Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)” was organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Shillong, in collaboration with the district administration of Jowai and the Jaintia Journalist Association.

This initiative aimed to strengthen awareness and improve the dissemination of rural development initiatives.

During the gathering, Additional Director General of North East Zone Kripa Shankar Yadav emphasised the crucial role the media plays in bridging the informational gap between the government and the citizens. He pointed out that accurate and timely communication is essential for the effective outreach of government schemes and initiatives, particularly in rural settings.

Yadav further stated that the “VB – Gram G” program builds upon existing initiatives by addressing gaps in the employment guarantee scheme. With a focus on stronger institutional mechanisms and enhanced transparency, this mission aligns with the overarching vision of Viksit Bharat by the year 2047.

Additional Deputy Commissioner & Project Director (DRDA) Baiamtimon Blah elaborated on the scheme’s implementation and key features.

Block Development Officers from Amlarem, Laskein, Thadlaskein, and Namdong C&RD Blocks shared field-level insights and highlighted ongoing awareness activities across villages to sensitise communities about schemes, entitlements, and participatory planning processes.

During the interactive session, media persons and local representatives raised queries on timely wage payments, transparency mechanisms, grievance redressal, and community participation.

Media persons from Jowai and Khliehriat, along with representatives from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jowai and Khliehriat, representatives of the Synjuk ki Waheh Chnong, and SHG members under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), participated in the workshop.
