GHADC member Rinaldo Sangma has written to the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) asking it to withhold further interviews and screenings after a Garo member recently completed the term.
“This situation poses a significant risk of disadvantage for our Garo candidates and may inadvertently create an undue advantage for candidates from other communities,” the Rongrong MDC said in his letter to the commission.
According to him, for equal representation of all major communities the inclusion of a representative from the Garo community is vital for ensuring that the unique perspectives and challenges faced by our Garo candidates are appropriately understood and considered during the screening tests and interviews.
He said that conducting further screening tests and interviews without filling the vacuum may compromise the fairness and equity in the selection process.
“The absence of a Garo member of the board of panel may significantly disadvantage our aspiring Garo candidates. Hence, I respectfully urge you to consider withholding further interviews and screenings until a new Garo member is appointed to the panel,” Sangma added.
