Langsning CC defeated Lawsohtun SCC by one wicket to win the final of the Maitshaphrang Khasi League T20 Tournament final at Polo Ground here today.
In a low-scoring title match, Lawsohtun made 79/8 in 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Kit Nongkhlaw top-scored with 14, while Sylvester Mylliempdah (3/7) and Deibormi Rangad (2/12) were the most successful of the Langsning bowlers.
In the chase, Langsning came through in 19.2 overs. Rangad topped the batting list with 24, and he was subsequently named Player of the Match. Heimon Lyngdoh also hit a handy 18 runs, while Edmund Dhar (3/13) and Peter Lyngkhoi (2/18) were the pick of the bowlers.
Langsning took home a cheque of Rs 2 lakh as champions.
At the prize distribution ceremony, other individual awards were also presented. Shavian Blah of Rangkynsai SC was named Best U-19 Player and Nehlang Pariat of Moodymmai Cricket Board was named Best U-23 Player. The top scorer was Pynkup Bonney, who made 330 runs for Donkin SC. With nine wickets to his name, he was also named Player of the Tournament. The player with the most wickets was Rangad again of Langsning, with a total of 19.
