A one day interaction-cum-awareness programme was conducted by KVK South Garo Hills, yesterday.
PR Sangma, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Chokpot Civil Sub-Division, was chief guest and encouraged the farmers to adopt technologies being popularised by KVK South Garo Hills and make use of well-qualified staff of the institute who impart training and provide updated agricultural technology.
Athokpam Haribhushan, Principal Scientist and Head of the institute, briefed about the work done by KVK South Garo Hills in the last calendar year and villages covered under its programmes and also addressed the gathering for development in agricultural activities for overall upliftment of the farming community.
Rike Chelchak A Sangma, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), conducted the interaction programme, highlighting improved oilseed cultivation of nine crops, namely rapeseed-mustard, sesame, sunflower, safflower, niger, castor, linseed, soybean and peanut and method demonstration of functioning of oil expeller was done. Water-cans were distributed to 30 farmers who participated in the programme.
