An organisation called the A·chik Dedicated Integrity Leaders (ADIL) has filed an FIR against a contractor identified as Sahidur Rahman for abandoning a Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) project in South Garo Hills.
The FIR was lodged at Gasuapara police station. The villages that were supposed to be covered under the project are Ramchenga, Konagittim, Jatapara, Kolapara and Namchapara.
According to ADIL, the project, which falls under the Public Health Engineering Department’s Chokpot sub-division, has been left unfinished for nearly four years, causing significant difficulties for the public in accessing water supply.
“Despite our efforts to seek information, the department has not taken adequate action. We urge the concerned department to investigate this matter and take serious action against the contractor,” ADIL said in a press release signed by its Gasuapara regional unit president S Salgra G Momin.
