Job card holders belonging to the Aruakgre Village Employment Council have written to the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency in Baghmara, South Garo Hills, to complain that they have not received payment for 68 days’ work that was carried out in 2023-24.
In the letter, the villagers said that it was understood by them that the delay was due to difficulties in linking Aadhaar numbers.
The job card holders met on January 31 to discuss the issue and decided to lodge a formal complaint with a plea that the official help resolve the matter and see that the pending wages are paid at the earliest.
