The Khasi Students Union (KSU) supported by residents of Sonapyrdi (Sonapur) and its adjoining villages today protested against the Border Security Force (BSF) alleged assault on locals of the area.
A protest rally was held near the BSF checkpoint wherein the KSU and residents reiterated their demand to remove the camp to ensure the safety of residents, who they alleged were being harassed.
This also comes after allegations that the BSF personnel assaulted and three civilians and damaged their vehicles on April 20, which the force had denied, terming it “entirely untrue, fabricated and devoid of any merit.”
The BSF accused the KSU and other pressure groups of “consistently attempting to harass the BSF by levelling false allegations.”
The locals alleged that the BSF set up their camp without any agreement and that they have not received the No-objection Certificate (NOC) from the village heads.
