The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Nongthymmai circle today conducted a search of work permit and pushed back labourers without valid documents from the locality.
The search was led by the organising secretary Sumarlang Lyngdoh, Kyrmen Mawrie assistant organising secretary and assistant general secretary Franklin Kharkongor.
In a statement, the union said that the search was organised to reiterate the KSU’s demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit and the Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
The KSU further maintained that they will continue to check work permit to ensure that non-locals do not illegal enter the state and said that employers should not employ people from outside sans valid documents.
