The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) has received an anonymous letter warning of impending danger that a “sponsored agency” has taken a decision to eliminate some of its members.
The letter which was written in the Khasi language was posted in a letter box of the KSU office in Jaiaw.
As per the letter, the sponsored agency of the State government, which was bracketed as the police department had taken a decision on December 11, 2021 to eliminate members of the KSU.
KSU general secretary, Donald V Thabah confirmed to Highland Post that the union received the letter on December 14. “We will treat it as an anonymous letter but we want our members to be on constant alert like we have always been.”
Thabah said the KSU members have always been under constant threat from many quarters and agreed that the anonymous letter this time was a different one.
“Even if one of our members is attacked be sure that we will react and this reaction will be taken unheard and unseen in the history of the KSU,” he warned.
Meanwhile, the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) in a statement said they are prepared to face any eventuality if the warning in the letter is true.
“We are not cowards to be cowed down by such threats even if we have to die by the bullets of the government or its mafias,” HITO general secretary, Wanbun N Dkhar said.
