Shillong, Jun 5: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare & Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda today chaired the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting on matters related to child health programmes and ways to improve various aspects of child health policies in India.
The meeting was held at Courtyard by Marriott, Shillong and attended by Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel members of Parliament from Lok Sabha, officials of the ministry, Secretary of the Department of Health Research (DHR) and the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Dr. Rajiv Bhal and Director NEIGRIHMS Prof. Nalin Mehta.
The members also visited NEIGRIHMS to review infrastructure and functioning, with special focus on child health care services offered at the institute. The members visited the paediatric department and interacted with patients.
NEIGRIHMS Director, Prof. Nalin Mehta and Medical Superintendent Senior Prof. Suvamoy Chakraborty along with other staff and doctors were also present.
Prof. Mehta appreciated the committee and said that the initiatives taken up by the ministry will improve child health care across the country. He said NEIGRIHMS is committed to be part of this initiative as a tertiary health care institute in the region.
