Jowai, Dec 8: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla today interacted with students selected to visit President Draupadi Murmu and attend the Winter Session of Parliament as part of their exposure trip.
A total of 17 students are being accompanied by Sawakani Lakiang (Gold Medallist of Bikini Model), Alexender Lyngdoh (winner of National Arm Wrestling & Para Arm Wrestling Championship 2025) along with mentor Iaidbha Phawa, Assistant Research Officer and Kynphammi Ryngkhlem, Research Assistant of Planning Branch, DC Office.
Shylla commended the Deputy Commissioner, SDO (Sadar) Jowai and teachers for the initiative. He said the exposure trip would build confidence and broaden perspectives of students.
Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh stated the programme was conceived through discussions with the Minister to expose youth to diverse career paths and help them realise their potential.
Meanwhile, Shylla also chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to discuss issues related to development of Jowai town.
Key issues discussed included traffic congestion, waste management, cleaning of River Myntdu, stray dogs, and others.
