Shillong, Jul 7: Government officials in East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall for an awareness program concerning the Meghalaya Right to Public Services (MRPS) Act 2020.
The initiative was organised by the District Planning Office with an aim of enhancing the implementation of the act, ensuring that the notified public services are delivered in a timely manner.
During the session, resource persons dwelt on the key provisions of the MRPS Act. They elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of designated public servants, the prescribed timelines for delivering services, and the grievance redressal mechanism available to citizens experiencing delays or denials. The emphasis of the act is to foster transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery.
Participants raised queries and shared insights on practical challenges they encounter while implementing the act.
