The Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) visited the office of the Public Works Department (PWD) Executive Engineer NEC Khliehriat Division to follow up regarding the long pending demand for reconstruction of the Moolamanoh RCC bridge, also known as ‘Lyngkeiñ Um-su-wai’ in East Jaiñtia Hills today.
The JNC had submitted several memos to the higher authorities demanding the replacement of the dilapidated bridge, which was constructed in the mid-1990s and which is 140m long. The bridge helps connect seven villages – Moolamanoh, Moolang, Musniang, Musniang Rim, Moo-Nongtdu and Lumputhoi – and is a backbone of the people of these villages.
The JNC delegation was told that the PWD has invited tenders for the construction of a new bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 19.20 crore.
