The West Jaiñtia Hills district level inter-school athletic meet kicked off today at Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Dongmihsngi, Jowai.
Around 17 schools are participating in the three day event that include 100 mtr,400 mtr, 600mtr, 1500mtr, 4×100 mtr, High Jump, Long Jump, Discus throw, Javelin throw and shot put.
The event is being organised by the office of the District Sports Officer, Jowai in collaboration with West Jaiñtia District Sport Association.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, P K Boro graced the event at the inaugural function. Addressing the students, he encouraged participants to adopt sportsmanship and competitive spirit and to deliver their best performance.
The chief guest also hoisted the flag followed by an oath taken by the participants.
District School Education Officer P. Syiem, District Sports officer K. Passah, members of the West Jaiñtia District Sport Association, teachers were present at the inaugural.
