A six-week intensive career coaching and counselling program has been arranged by the office of the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with local MLAs and supported by the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance and Counselling Scheme.
The initiative is being executed by faculty from the Hyderabad-based Triumphant Institute of Management Education’s (TIME) Shillong and Guwahati branches.
TIME, an institute that specialises in competitive exam training, will hold this programme across five blocks in Ri-Bhoi – Umling, Umsning, Bhoirymbong, Jirang and Nongpoh – with the goal of reaching students from every corner of the district and providing them with structured, high-quality coaching for government job examinations, CUET (Common University Entrance Test) and CAT (Common Admission Test for IIMs).
The orientation schedule will begin in Umling on June 9, Umsning on June 10, Bhoirymbong on June 11, Patharkhmah on June 12 and Nongpoh on June 30.
Classes will be delivered by faculty who are alumni of IITs, IIMs, NITs, AEC and other premier institutions, focusing on developing students’ aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability and overall exam readiness, a press release stated today.
Speaking on the initiative, the Ri-Bhoi DC was quoted as saying, “Every student in Ri-Bhoi deserves access to top-tier preparation regardless of where they come from. This programme brings opportunity closer to the ground.”
TIME Shillong has held similar programmes in West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Garo Hills and Ri-Bhoi. Those earlier programmes, the release said, witnessed enthusiastic participation and led to the selection of several students for scholarship-based coaching at the TIME Shillong centre, many of whom are now actively preparing for examinations to get into IIMs, central universities and government jobs.
