Shillong, May 11: The Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp 2026 was inaugurated at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education.
The event saw the participation of over 170 individuals, including entrepreneurs, resource persons, and team members united in their shared dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Dinesh Bhatia, the coordinator and SPOC of the bootcamp emphasised the transformative changes in entrepreneurship in India, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted India’s growing innovation status on a global scale and urged students to pursue innovation fearlessly to contribute to a self-reliant nation.
Vikas Verma, managing editor at MIC and AICTE, inspired participants by sharing success stories of digital disruption, notably the journey of Netflix.
Guest speaker Rajkiran Pund motivated the students, promising that by the bootcamp’s conclusion, every participant would master the art of pitching ideas effectively.
Prof. Ghanashyam Bez from NEHU’s administration commended the enthusiastic youth participation, particularly those who travelled from various regions for practical exposure in the startup ecosystem.
Another highlight was the exhibition featuring innovative stalls from students and local artisans, showcasing a variety of handmade products that echoed Meghalaya’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.
