The Commerce & Industrial Training cum Production Centre in Mawsynram, East Khasi Hills district, which aims to provide skill training to youth, has been left abandoned.
According to the Hynñiewtrep National Youths Front (HNYF), Southern Border Area, the centre which is under the Department of Commerce and Industries is lying unattended and its premises are filled with overgrowth grass and other weeds.
Speaking to reporters after an inspection of the office yesterday, HNYF area president, Kyllang Thongni expressed concern over the apathy and negligence of authorities concerned and said the department should make it functional otherwise the abandoned centre will become a safe hideout of miscreants and criminals.
