Illegal mining and quarrying will destroy Meghalaya, Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha said today.
“I am the one person who raised, not once but four times, questions on illegal mining in Meghalaya. No other person has raised [it],” Sinha told reporters while on a visit to Kongthong, his ‘adopted’ village.
Such illegal activities will destroy the culture of Meghalaya and if the culture is destroyed the state will be too, he opined.
“If you destroy the environment and ecology, Meghalaya will be destroyed. Meghalaya’s beauty is in its culture and nature,” the MP said.
