A student of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) in Ri Bhoi, Sahil Ahmed Talukdar (19), died by suicide inside his hostel room.
Talukdar, a resident of Hojai, Assam was pursuing Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) at the university.
According to police, the student was found hanging using a Gamcha by the warden and staff of the hostel.
The incident reportedly took place on Friday evening around 8 pm. Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Khanapara police station immediately rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation.
The exact reason behind his actions remains unclear, and the police are conducting a thorough inquiry to determine the cause of his suicide.
Authorities handed over the body to his family after obtaining the necessary permissions to forego post mortem.
