IIM Shillong welcomed the 13th batch of its Doctoral Program (residential) batch of 2025 and the 18th batch of the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP 2025–27) during a ceremonial commencement held on campus.
The cohort for Doctoral Program (residential) batch comprises five scholars, representing five different states of India. The group holds 100 per cent non-engineering backgrounds with a gender distribution of 60 per cent male and 40 per cent female, and an average age of 25.6 years.
The admissions process for the doctoral program included two rounds of rigorous personal interviews held across major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kolkata.
The flagship PGP 2025–27 saw the registration of 405 participants selected from over 2.3 lakh applicants through CAT 2024. The batch comprises 58 per cent male and 42 per cent female students, with a nearly even split between engineering (46per cent) and non-engineering (54 per cent) backgrounds. The average age of the cohort is 25.2 years, with 72 per cent of the students bringing prior work experience—mostly in the one to three years bracket. The batch represents 22 states and 4 Union Territories from across the country.
IIM Shillong Director in charge Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy welcomed the incoming participants with a message grounded in growth and reflection. “This journey is not only about academics—it is about widening your perspective and developing the ability to lead with responsibility,” she said.
Highlighting the institute’s focus on industry-relevant and future-focused education, she encouraged students to make the most of their time at IIM Shillong by remaining curious, committed, and open to transformation.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Parmod Kamlani, Partner at EY Strategy & Transaction and GDS Transaction & Corporate Finance Leader. In his address, Kamlani reflected on the influence of faith in his personal journey and the power of aligning one’s words with actions. He emphasized the fundamental role of trust-building in professional and personal spheres, urging students to cultivate authenticity and consistency as future leaders.
Dean (Academics) Prof. Rohit Joshi administered the formal Pledge of Commitment to the students of both batches, marking the beginning of their academic journey at IIM Shillong.
