The regional centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is organising a week-long research methodology workshop on ‘Impact Evaluation of Public Welfare Programmes’ here.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Prof PS Shukla yesterday. Prof B Mishra, Head of the Department of Economics at NEHU, was the guest of honour.
Md Murtaza introduced the workshop by speaking about mechanisms, outcomes and directions of welfare programmes that affect millions of lives across India. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include NEHU economics professor Bhagirathi Panda, also Honorary Director of ICSSR-NERC, Shillong.
Panda, as program chairperson, highlighted the central government’s initiative in sponsoring a number of public welfare programmes and that relevant attributes are now required to be identified to evaluate such welfare programmes, particularly along the lines of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
