The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) today held an event to promote clean and responsible politics under the banner of its Rai Eh Daw Campaign ahead of the February 27 Assembly election.
The event was held at the Patharkhmah market, which falls under Jirang constituency.
HYC leaders began the campaign to spread awareness among the general public that they must be responsible while casting their vote and to elect responsible legislators and not to be swayed by cash for votes as this leads to corruption.
The campaign was attended by the top leaders of the HYC, including president Robert June Kharjahrin, general secretary Roy Kupar Synrem, Ri-Bhoi unit leaders Hercules Suting and Tony Shylla, among others.
They said that the pressure group does not support any one political party but it is keen to make people realise that the person who gives money for votes, the person who distributes that money and those that take it are all responsible for the growth of corruption in the country.
