The East Jaintia Hills unit of the Hynñiewtrep Youths Council (HYC) met an Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (Roads) in charge of the area to follow up on the delayed repairs of the road from Rymbai PHC to Khliehriat, which is through the PMGSY scheme.
The contractor was supposed to start work on this road, which is essential for the daily commute of students, patients, and the general public of the district, seven to eight months ago. “Unfortunately, the contractor has failed to fulfill his duties, causing immense inconvenience and frustration to the people,” the HYC said in a release today.
The HYC urged the authorities to seriously reconsider the contractor’s commitment and efficiency and reassign the work if such a move is warranted.
