Shillong, Jun 30: The House-to-house verification under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has commenced across Meghalaya today.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visited households to distribute pre-filled self-enumeration forms to voters in all the 898 parts of all the 15 Assembly constituencies, whose names are already included in the 2025 electoral roll, East Khasi Hills District Election Officer, Abhilash Baranwal informed.
No documents are required at the initial stage, and electors only need to fill and return the self-enumeration forms. Additional documents will be sought only in cases requiring clarification, and voters will be given sufficient time to submit them.
The door-to-door survey will be followed by publication of the draft electoral roll on August 5. Voters can file claims and objections from August 5 to September 4. The qualifying date for the SIR is October 1, 2026 while the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 7.
