The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development at Upper Shillong welcomed Assistant Director Horticulture from the District Horticulture Office, Khliehriat and the field functionaries of the State Agriculture department to acquaint them with the orchid growing facilities of the Orchidarium.
The visitors were made familiar with the high-tech automated functioning of the Orchidarium along with the suitability of various orchid species as per their specific climatological requirements.
Field functionaries of the department were also made familiar with the specific requirements of terrestrial and epiphytic orchids.
IBSD and its staff is associated with the raising, up keeping, maintenance and training and outreach activities related to floriculture specially orchids including the orchid based women bio-entrepreneurship program funded by BIRAC.
