Editor,
The honeymoon turned into a murder trip coupled with an extra-marital affair had sent shockwaves across the entire nation not limited only to our state, news after news channels kept on replaying clip by clip, byte by byte everything that they could sensationalize this epic story fit to become a series. The news is utterly shocking as it showed Meghalaya in poor light of how it manages its tourism which of course should be an eyeopener and another news that found its way into the national media was speculation. It is however commendable that the district administration, the local community of Sohra, village defense parties, local police team at Sohra along with teams from the SDRF, NDRF and mountaineering group gave all their best, which unfortunately should have found appreciation in the many news outlets. What will be a long sought fight for justice is for the family of late Raja Raghuvsanshi to demand justice over this fallout. In the midst of all the cacophony there were quite a few channels who seems to be confused with the geography and differences between states and it was ironic that even an ex-police officer confusing himself with Manipur and another news anchor confusing themselves with Mizoram, this shows how learned the mainland media is about this region, perhaps they should start doing their homework properly lest they make a fool out of themselves in public domain.
