Editor,
A dual-drum washing machine utilises two separate drums within a single unit to wash colors and whites simultaneously. Today, we are witnessing its political equivalent. This “dual-drum” strategy allows the ruling party to process two distinct loads: one for elected opposition lawmakers and another for the voters.
Having been pursued by the ED and CBI, some lawmakers choose to enter this political washing machine to cleanse themselves of corruption allegations. Meanwhile, the second drum is engaged in scrubbing the electoral rolls, bizarrely washing away the voting rights of nearly 15 percent of the electorate. It is alarming that this machine is systematically erasing the valuable democratic fibre from our political fabric.
