The United Democratic Party (UDP) has cast blame on the Congress for its role in starting cash for votes in elections.
“If we go into the history of state politics, it was the Congress party who started all this. Now, who will believe the kinds of allegations coming from the Congress when they are the ones who started it,” UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said.
He said that just because Congress is losing ground they have started pointing fingers at the others even as he maintained that people are not going to buy what the grand old party says.
Stating that the Congress also keeps saying that regional parties are always divided, he said, “Now everybody knows that it is the Congress that is a divided house. All is not well within the Congress camp and they have admitted to this and that their defeat in all the three by-poll constituencies is because of the infighting within the party.”
He also observed that the coming of the TMC party in the state will not affect a party like UDP but affect other parties whose members are looking for other space.
