Opposition to the agreement entered between the Jowai Municipal Board and the assistant waheh chnong of Moolamylliang continues.
A youth organisation in Elaka Sutnga has warned the municipal board not to dump the Jowai garbage by force.
In a statement here today the Hima Sutnga Youth Federation (HSYF) said that the municipal board is not allowed to dump the wastes of Jowai in any parts of Sutnga Elaka.
HSYF president Nangbah Nongtdu said that the organisation has been working hard to adopt measures to keep the Elaka clean. “Therefore if there is any forceful attempt to dump the wastes we will not be held responsible if any untoward incidents occur,” Nongtdu said.
Yesterday, Damewanhi Rymbai, the Assistant Waheh Chnong of Moolamylliang village has offered his 200-feet deep coal mine for dumping of wastes that are piling up along the roads in Jowai.
This was seen as a temporary relieve for residents of Jowai but hours after the agreement, the Joint Village Defence Party of Sutnga Elaka said it would not allow any attempt to dump the wastes in Moolamylliang which falls under Sutnga Elaka and did not want to become the garbage dump of anybody.
