Vehicular movement will be suspended from the Lumshnong to Malidor stretch along the National Highway 6 in East Jaiñtia Hills district to carry out successful repair works there.
A public advisory was issued by the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority and Deputy Commissioner informing that closure of the road will take place from 9 am to 3 pm from December 3.
All vehicles are strictly prohibited from accessing the section of the road. Local access for commuters will not be allowed unless under exceptional circumstances approved by the authorities managing the traffic, the advisory said.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed access. However in case of emergencies, ambulances and other related crucial emergencies will be facilitated in a coordinated manner.
All other vehicles must follow the detour routes as provided by traffic personnel as commuters are also advised to be mindful of signages for night visibility to prevent any untoward incident during the entire process of works especially at strategic locations like bridges, culverts, major potholes.
Commuters are also urged to plan their trips accordingly and stock their essential commodities needed during the closure period.
