The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has slammed the Hima Mylliem stating it has done nothing about the troubled Them Ïewmawlong, or Them Metor, when the land is under its jurisdiction.
“When a land belongs to me then it becomes my responsibility to look at the well being of my land,” HNYF Bless Dkhar said yesterday at a press conference.
Stating that the Syiem and the ministers of Hima Mylliem are just sitting idle doing nothing at all, he questioned, “What are the Syiem and the Myntris of Hima Mylliem doing about the problem faced by his subjects in their kingdom?”
“The myntris are living a lavish life from the revenue collected from the poor at Ïewduh, while many resources under the Hima’s look out like forest, lands and markets are disappearing,” he said.
He alleged that the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) treats the Hima Mylliem as their ATM.
He said that the no entry imposed at Them Ïewmawlong has continued to create traffic chaos in the area. “Why does the government need to continue to close this road? Why not provide security to people residing along the state’s border with Assam,” he questioned.
He said that MDA 1 is gone and now it remains to be seen if the MDA 2 speeds up to address issue or continue with its delay tactics to fool the people.
