Shillong, May 12: A single bench of the Meghalaya High Court, presided over by Justice Wanlura Diengdoh, today heard the appeal filed by the state government challenging the bail granted to murder-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi.
However, Sonam’s lawyer, S Thapa sought an adjournment as he was provided with the government’s petition only on Monday. The court accepted this and adjourned the case until May 18.
Sonam, who is being tried for the May 2025 murder of her husband Raja, had secured bail from a Sessions Court on April 27. Sonam’s lawyer had argued, successfully, in moving for bail that police had not followed proper procedure and that there were mistakes in the paperwork relating to her arrest.
