The union ministry of health and family welfare has asked the state government to look into the unavailability of an x-ray machine at the Khliehriat CHC in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
The ministry took note of a complaint lodged in the centralized public grievance and monitoring system portal by the East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC), Khliehriat circle on November 3.
In a letter to NHM mission director, Ram Kumar the ministry said since public health is a state subject the Government of Meghalaya should look into the matter and take necessary action.
EJNC general secretary, Mebanteilang Sukhlain said, “We are ashamed that the hospital in our district has no x-ray machine and this can cause major problems and trouble for the people of East Jaiñtia Hills District. Therefore we had to file a complaint to the ministry.”
He said if there is no action taken by the government the organisation will take another step to report to the high authority.
It may be mentioned that the issue of unavailability of an x-ray machine in the district was raised by several organisations causing inconvenience to patients who have to get services outside the centre.
