The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Khliehriat circle has urged the Deputy Commissioner not to allow vendors inside the office campus.
According to the group, a street fruit vendor had applied for licence to permit him to conduct his business inside the DC campus.
The FKJGP who is opposed to the idea said the office should not be turned into a market place that would leave it crowded and congested.
It urged the DC to implement measures to regulate or restrict not to provide any license or no objection certificate for people to run businesses inside the campus.
