Shillong, Jul 22: Teams got one step closer to the semifinals today as the State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026 entered the second day of the group action.

In the U-15 boys’ matches, which were played at the SSA Stadium in Polo, after a goalless draw in their first match yesterday, Step by Step SS (EJH) registered a 5-1 win over St Claret HSS (SWGH) in Group D. The goal fest was led by Mewasolaki Rymbai’s quick brace (28′, 31′), supported by Overwell Suchiang (24′), Kyrshanlang Dkhar (46′), and an own goal by a St Claret player (14′). Jerryphingko Marak (47′) scored the lone consolation goal for St Claret.

North Liberty HSS (WJH) qualified for the semis with a second straight win in Group C. Having won 12-0 against Don Bosco HSS (WGH) yesterday they won 4-0 today versus Anderson HSS (WKH). Meshan-I Syntem was the standout performer, netting a brace (19′, 23′), while Ozil Langshiang (2′) and Kyrshanlang Chyrmang (20′) also found the back of the net.

In Group B, Umpohliew Jingtip HSS (EKH) knocked out Baghmara HSS (SGH) with a 6-0 scoreline. Bomtius Dkhar set the pace with two goals (13′, 43′), accompanied by strikes from Roniki Kharshandi (14′), Komasson Lyngdoh (22′), Nangteimanbha Syiemlieh (25′) and Hamebanjop Langstieh (38′). Baghmara HSS had lost their opening match yesterday as well, to Dilma Apal HSS (NGH).

And in Group A, Little Star HSS (EWKH) were involved in a 2-2 draw with Mangsang HSS (EGH). Little Star scored through Davidson Lyngdoh Marshilong (36′) and Revealstar SLJ Kharbhih (43′), while Mangsang found their goals early via Tengsuang T Sangma (7′) and Rakrim N Marak (17′). Yesterday’s game between Little Star and Maharam Govt HSS (SWKH) had also ended 2-2.

In the U-17 boys’ matches, which were played at the MFA Ground in Polo, Bajengdoba HSS (NGH) edged past Amwi HSS (WJH) in a thrilling 4-3 Group D encounter. Chukam R. Marak’s brace (22′, 52′) proved decisive, alongside goals from Mithu D Sangma (6′) and Gipsang M. Marak (21′). Amwi fought hard with Clifford Buam also scoring twice (16′, 51′) and Austinly Buam adding another (45′). The group is wide open as Amwi had beaten Government Boys HSS (WGH) 1-0 yesterday.

In Group C, Wapung SS (EJH) claimed a decisive 4-0 victory against Okkapara SS (SWGH) to knock out the latter, who had lost yesterday. Jeffarson Phawa was the star of the match, completing a brilliant hat-trick (42′, 52′, 70′), with Lyonel (60′) (one name only provided) adding the fourth.

Myngken Christian HSS (Ri-Bhoi) also delivered a knockout blow to Little Star HSS (EWKH) with a 5-1 win in Group B. Chanjib Chetry was unstoppable, scoring four goals (26′, 39′, 47′, 51′), with Prosperwell Ryntong (44′) also scoring. Kishan Wahlang (21′) provided the only goal for Little Star, who had lost yesterday.

Group A is still open after Dapboklang Giri Memorial SS (WKH) recorded a comprehensive 6-0 win over Balang Mawlangwir HSS (SWKH). Iohborlang Lyngkhoi was the standout player, netting four times (7′, 28′, 35′, 43′), while Jonalius Khardewsaw (13′) and Shemphang Iawphniaw (65′) rounded off the scoring. Balang Mawlangwir HSS had won their opening fixture yesterday.

The U-17 girls’ matches were held at Mawlai Madan Heh. Here North Liberty HSS (WJH) showcased immense firepower to defeat St Claret HSS (SWGH) 12-0 in Group A. Hat-tricks from Elizabeth Thianglai (15′, 30′, 58′) and Baiarbha Nongrum (35′, 41′, 59′) highlighted the rout. Receive Ksoo (11′, 38′) and Peacefully Pohplet (25′, 50′) scored braces, while Saphika Pyrtuh (24′) and Virginia Pyrtuh (26′) added to the tally. St Claret are still in the running as they had beaten  Upper Kharkutta UPS (NGH).

Group B saw Lotus SS (EJH) and Rangthong Christian HSS (SWKH) battle to a 0-0 stalemate. Nongjri Presbyterian SS (RB) currently lead this group after having beaten Lotus SS yesterday.

Another team qualified for the semifinals – this time it was Lurmangkara SS (WKH). They defeated Montfort SS (WGH) 4-0 to go along with their 2-0 win yesterday over Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (EGH). Natasha Kharjahrin led the attack with a hat-trick (6′, 29′, 53′), supported by a goal from Evanisha Kharjahrin (18′).

And in Group D, Tyrsad HSS outclassed Rangku Memorial Girls HSS (SGH) with a 9-0 victory. This had the effect of knocking Rangku Memorial out as they had lost their opening fixture to Little Star HSS (EWKH) yesterday.  Ha-I-sha Myrthong secured a hat-trick (2′, 11′, 38′), while Labianghun Rani (7′, 26′) and Wanrihun Kharnaior (47′, 52′) scored two goals each.
