The Forum for Good Governance, a think tank, was set up recently in order to help bring about positive change in the public sphere in Meghalaya.
According to a release from the new outfit, it evolved as a social think tank “to build upon common good, sustained community relationships and ensure good governance by moulding thought leaders and social thinkers who would shape, mould public perception and opinion on issues linked with governance that affects all levels and strata of the state and society.”
Individuals from different professional, political and social backgrounds have committed themselves to the forum.
The release said that such a body had become necessary because of a failure to ensure efficient and accountable mechanisms in society and government.
“The forum will strive to be the torch bearer of the oppressed, marginalised and dejected section of society and ensure that the government machinery does not remain just in the periphery of the city (Shillong) but right down to the villages. We will facilitate and mould and develop thought leaders who have a vision, goal and mission for the betterment of the state,” it added.
The members of the forum are Dominic S Wankhar, Joplyn S Shylla, Winston Tony Lyngdoh, Aiborlang Andrew Chyne, Aiti Kurbah, Deibormi Syad, Haranki Syrti, Seibor Nonglait, Wanphailang Dkhar, Macfairson Dkhar, Dr Peter D Khariong and Emboklang Shylla, among others.
