The 6th Meghalaya Games will have its formal opening ceremony in Jowai on January 20 but the football action began yesterday at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium with the extra days required to ensure that the players are rested enough in between the action.
Today, in the women’s senior category, East Khasi Hills trounced North Garo Hills 11-2, while West Garo Hills beat South Garo Hills 4-0.
East Jaintia Hills then secured a narrow 2-1 win against East Garo Hills before South West Khasi Hills edged West Khasi Hills 1-0. The names of the scorers were not provided by the organisers.
