The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Mawprem circle today claimed to have detected 40 non-locals who were operating their businesses without valid trading license.
The organisation stated that the detection was made during a surprise check conducted by them at Mawbah area, wherein some traders also claimed that they had paid a person working in the district council to avail the document.
FKJGP circle president, Reginald Thabah said that they detected invalid trading licenses and some did not renew since 2013.
“Most of them have claimed that they have paid one person Deng Nongsiej working at the District Council,” he stated.
Thabah said the names of the 40 traders will be sent to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and demanded necessary action.
“We have all the evidences of the invalid trading license, etc that will be submitted to the KHADC and we hope that the CEM takes up the matter seriously,” he added.
On the claims made by the traders against Nongsiej, the circle president said they would soon meet the CEM and get a clear picture of all the agents and dalals involved in issuing trading licenses.
