A 40-year old woman was arrested after a fire that broke out at in a house revealed an illegal storage of cannabis (ganja).
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said the fire incident occurred at Tyrsad village yesterday at around 8:30 am.
He said after the Fire and Emergency Service doused the fire, police had conducted an enquiry at the place and found storage of the ganja in the ground floor of the house.
Police seized 1001.655 kgs of the drugs and arrested one Junita Nongbet.
Nongtnger said a case has been registered under Mawngap Police Station under the NDPS Act. Investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket.
