The Hynniew Trep Meghalaya Ex-Services League, a body comprising retired soldiers from Meghalaya, held a special meeting today at the Auditorium Hall in Marngar to elect new leaders of its Ri Bhoi district unit 2025-2028.
The gathering, attended by several retired servicemen along with the widows and family members of deceased ex-servicemen, marked the official induction of the new office bearers.
S.Thangkhiew was appointed as the President with Niren Pambah as the General Secretary, alongside other key functionaries.
During the event, the leaders of the central body emphasised the importance of establishing units in all districts across the Hynniewtrep region to strengthen the coordination and effectiveness of its activities.
The association’s primary goal is to support retired servicemen and ensure they receive all rightful benefits — including assistance to the families of deceased veterans, educational aid, pensions, and marriage benefits for daughters, among others.
Leaders also inform and educate the attendees on the various entitlements and welfare schemes available to ex-servicemen and their families, reaffirming the league’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of the retired military community.
