Former CEM of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Purno K Sangma has joined the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) as one of its leaders to pursue with the demand for a separate State.
The committee also elected Jakrak A Sangma as the co-chairman of the committee.
GSMC additional general secretary, Bostone M Sangma informed that the committee has decided to once again protest in New Delhi to pursue with their demand for a separate State.
The decision was taken at a meeting held yesterday in Tura. Sangma said that they have also decided to hold many campaigns in the Garo Hills region on the demand.
The GSMC, which has joined forces with the National Federation for New States, had also recently joined various leaders representing regions demanding separate and smaller states in the country at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to push for a separate Garoland.
