Isolated light to moderate rainfall is likely over parts of Northeast India including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today, according to a forecast released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The department also predicted thunderstorm and lightning and gusty wind with speed reaching 30-40 kmph and 40-50 kmph.
The IMD said that the weather over Northeast India is under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and a north-south trough that runs from east Bihar to north Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels.
As per IMD data, Assam recorded 70 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
In Meghalaya, Mawsynram recorded 110 mm, Sohra (100mm), Rattachera and Pynursla (80mm).
In Arunachal Pradesh, Mebo (110mm), Dambuk (80mm) and Hayuliang Circle (70mm).
Meanwhile, the IMB said that squall reported at the LGBI Airport in Guwahati yesterday at 4:09 pm to 4:10 pm came from North-Westerly direction with maximum wind speed of 43 Knot accompanied with hail with diameter 1.4 cm.
