      Election expenditure observers arrive in State

      The District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills has informed that the election expenditure observers for the ensuing elections has arrived and is stationed at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.

      For any queries, complaints, information etc relating to the election, they may be contacted on the following mobile numbers from 3 pm to 4 pm.

      In North Garo Hills, election expenditure observer, Prashant Kumar Sinha, IRS has arrived and stationed at Resubelpara Circuit House, Room No 3.

      The District Election Officer informed public that if they have any complaint, query, information, etc, relating to MCC violation may be lodged before the expenditure observer between 10:30 am to 11:30 am or he may be reached at 6009396063.

      The Expenditure Observer of West Khasi Hills today met the district election functionaries under the leadership of Garod LSN Dykes, the DEO, accompanied by the ROs, AROs, magistrates, leaders of the flying squad team, static surveillance team, video surveillance team, Assistant Expenditure Observer, accounting team and others in Nongstoin.

      The observer called upon the election functionaries to sincerely perform their duties and pointed out that all expenditure monitoring mechanisms should be activated and to conduct a rigorous checking of any suspicious movement of vehicles, carrying of cash, liquor or narcotics with an intention to bribe voters.

      In Mawkyrwat, Prabhat Dandotiya, IRS, the Expenditure Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for South West Khasi Hills, had a meeting today with all the election teams of the district in the presence of the DEO, T Lyngwa.

      Speaking on the occasion, Dandotiya said that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure a free and fair election through strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission. He clarified the roles and responsibilities of each team and laid great stress upon the need for coordination.

      Meanwhile, the DEO informed that Dandotiya is available at the Circuit House from 12-1pm. Any complaint, query or information relating to violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) may be lodged before him. Dandotiya can be contacted via mobile phone on +919051971555 and +917005545320.

      The DEO of West Jaintia Hills also informed that Expenditure Observers Monika Singh and Pardeep Kumar have arrived in Jowai and will be stationed at Tyrchi Inn.

      Singh, the EO for the Nartiang, Jowai and Amlarem seats, can be contacted on +919233513832. Kumar, the EO for Raliang and Mowkaiaw, can be contacted on +919233513822. If any person wishes to make complaints, they can be met in Room 151 of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills from 11am to 12 noon.

      The District Election Control Room has also been set up in the DC’s office. Any complaint or information relating to the election can be passed on via phone – 03652220095.
