East Jaiñtia Hills Police made the largest-ever heroine seizure today when they discovered 2.738 kilograms of the drug in 200 soap cases hidden inside a vehicle and arrested two persons.
According to police, the accused Biaklian Guite of Manipur and Imliakum Longkumer of Nagaland were ferrying the illegal drug consignment in a Tata winger bearing registration number NL 07T 0815.
The Anti-Narcotic Task Force detected the vehicle near a fuel station at Nongsning under Lad Rymbai PS at around 6:15 pm. Police also seized two mobile phones and cash of Rs 2500.
A case has been registered at Khliehriat PS and investigation is on.
