Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Alexander Laloo Hek on Friday said that the Education Ministry will take a decision to remove NEHU Vice Chancellor Prabha Shankar Shukla.
Hek stated that he has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who responded today that the matter has been referred to the concerned department for suitable action.
He pointed out that the Centre had earlier set up a committee to investigate complaints raised by students and faculty. “Any office or department has a process to follow and decisions cannot be made abruptly,” he said while emphasising the procedural nature of such matters.
On allegations that the Centre has neglected the grievances of NEHU students and staff, Hek disagreed. “If the issue was taken lightly, there wouldn’t have been a response to my letter and request,” he said.
