The District Magistrate and District Election Officer of East Khasi Hills has declared a total of four dry days in relation to the deferred Sohiong Assembly seat election.
The poll will take place on May 10, which will be a dry day, along with May 8-9 in the run-up to the election and May 13, which is the counting of votes.
The order passed today issued a stern warning “that no spirituous, fermented, intoxicating liquors or other substances of a like nature shall be sold, given or distributed at a hotel, eating house, tavern, shop or any other place, public or private and within a polling area.”
