Director of Health Services Dr Aman War once again reiterated that there was no “hanky panky” on the part of the government in declaring positive Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya.
He rubbished allegations that most patients taken to hospitals in the state are testing positive for Covid-19. This is the second time that he has personally come down against conspiracy theories revolving around coronavirus.
According to Dr War, it is mostly those patients with severe illnesses who test positive for the virus.
The Director of Health Services said that health workers and others are working hard to ensure that a minimum of people are infected with the virus.
Stating that it cannot be denied that there are coronavirus cases in most Shillong homes, Dr War, however, said that the effort of the health authorities is to ensure that there should not be a sudden surge in cases so that the virus can be handled effectively.
He again reiterated that an in-depth study is on with regards to the behaviour of the virus, especially in asymptomatic cases. Dr War said that, as per the literature available, the virus is no longer infectious after 10 days in an asymptomatic case.
